The target for this investment is to produce by state of art Desmet technology, high quality refined Palm oil and refined Rice Bran oils with maximum yields and minimum operating cost while also minimizing the process contaminants viz.  Trans fatty acids,  3-monochloropropane diol (3-MCPD) and Glycidyl ester (GE).  

Trans fatty acids are formed in deodorization step. The consumption of trans fatty acids raise the LDL ( bad cholesterol ) and leads to blockage of arteries and risk of heart disease and stroke.   
It is objective of Kanpur Edibles to produce refined rice bran oil of world class quality with trans fatty acids less than 1% to ensure a safe cooking oils to its esteemed consumers. Desmet hence has designed the plant to produce refined rice bran oil with trans fatty acids less than 1% to comply with customer requirements. 

FSSAI has also mandated that from Jan 2022 , the trans fatty acids in refined oil should be less than 2% and this limit is expected to be reduced in near future. The objective of Kanpur Edibles hence to produce refined rice bran oil with trans fatty acids less than 1% complies with the future expected FSSAI limits.  

3MCPD and GE are formed in deodorization step. 3MCPD and GE are known to increase risk of cancer. It is objective of Kanpur Edibles to produce refined palm oil world class quality with 3-MCPD less than 2 ppm and GE less than 1 ppm to ensure a safe cooking oils to its esteemed consumers. Desmet has designed the plant according to these norms and standards. This is also aligned with current European regulations and future FSSAI specifications in India.
